UOC on Halloween?

    UOC on Halloween?

    Hello Friends!

    Please let me first make a disclaimer that I have no intentions of causing drama with my idea and that I feel this may be the one day out of the year that I can get away with it with hopefully little flak.

    As a part of my Halloween costume, I am extremely tempted to UOC my Arsenal SGL-21. However, considering I will be going to an extremely public area (Downtown San Diego), I understand that this is probably a horrible idea.

    My question is, if I were to decide to UOC, could I improve my situation by removing the bolt and plugging the barrel of the rifle with some material to make it a non-functioning unit and therefore pass it off as a "prop"?

    I apologize in advance if my questions seem juvenile, however, I am genuinely curious as to the legality of my idea.

      I think you would get in more trouble for disguising it as a prop. if it is a fully functional rifle you are UOC that would be better in court.

      even trick or treaters can CCW or UOC they are american citizens too

        Even a "non-functional" rifle is still legally a rifle. It is never a "prop". Removing the bolt and blocking the barrel has absolutely zero effect on the legality.

        Since it is a long gun, you don't have to worry about the State GFSZ law, but the Federal GFSZ law still applies.

        Halloween is probably the one night of the year where you may be able to do this without anyone taking notice. In most people's eyes it is simply a part of your costume, assuming that carrying the rifle actually has something to do with your costume.

        Without a costume, you are just a guy carrying a rifle on the night that is known in some parts of the country as "Devil's Night". It may cause you to be the object of unwanted attention.

          I was just thinking about putting on my cowboy gear to go out with the kids....too bad I can't just drop my vaqueros in the holster and head out......

                IIRC airsoft guns in public are illegal. Would probably end up breaking more laws then if it was real...

                Ditch the gun in the costume. Period.

                  Last year I put a training barrel in one of my GLOCKs and wore it as part of my costume at a private party. I transported it locked in a case, no ammo.
                  Many people at the party were "concerned" that it was a real gun, even though I showed them it essentially was a "prop" gun because of the training barrel. I bet half the people there approached me and asked me about it.
                  In public? Someone WILL call LE and report you. Bad idea, go buy a toy gun, why bring trouble on yourself.

                    Partaking in a child oriented event with an AK is really going to sell well on the evening news....

                    Might as well go sit with your gun in a playground next to the swing set.

                      Wore an old pair of BDUs and carried a 'rubber duck' to school (Community College) one Halloween. Cops at the bus station got a little excited but once they got close and realized what it was they were cool.

                      That was 20 years ago, though...

                        go find yourself a toy and paint the muzzle orange. At least 3 inches of it. BRIGHT orange.

                              I echo all the negative feelings above.

                              Also, please remember that you CANNOT be masked (see PC 12040) - unless you're only holding the firearm and wearing the mask at a private party.

                              But seriously. Ditch the firearm. We get enough bad publicity lately as it is.
