Most of you are not going to Chicago to the SAF GRPC.

That being said, there are those of us who are going and over the years the panelists have been approachable.

I am sure that myself and others will probably check in on Calguns while we are there and try to answer questions that any of you may have.

In Heller, it is presumptively lawful to ban guns in government buildings. How far can we apply Schneider v State of NJ, 308 US 47 at 160, to carry in such publicly owned buildings like civic centers, recreation centers, etc...? Governments are created to protect our rights so why not recognize them in buildings? We can lawfully carry our weapons for self defense outside the buildings, so why not inside?

People meet in the civic centers for first amendment principles so why can't our second amendment rights be exercised there as well? Police have no duty to protect us so any private violence afflicted upon another will not provide standing to the victim to bring suit against the government for lack of security.

last year it was in SF and while attendance was great, probably less than 100 CalGunners were there (just a guess, i don't have an actual count). this despite pretty active hype and recruiting here on the forum.

Most of my questions are about fortelling the future. What gun rights cases will the Supreme Court pick up this fall and what will their decisions be? If it looks like Obama is leading in the polls this time next year will there be another gun and ammo buying frenzy? When will Chicago's Ezell hash be well and truly settled?

Is the UN Small Arms Treaty as much of a joke as it seems to be? It has been used by fear-mongering fund raising gun groups (cough NRA cough) but seems to be exceedingly unlikely to amount to anything. All of the fear seems to focus on what might be in the treaty with still a year of negotiations to go. What's the reality when all the hype is cleared away? http://www.saf.org/viewpr-new.asp?id=368

I was going to tell you to get after Kathy Jackson about neglecting Cornered Cat [ http://www.corneredcat.com/ ] for way too long, but I just checked it again for the first time in months and it's updated, redone, overhauled and ready to go. I guess you could tell her it looks great and thanks.

Not to be rude or too personal, but wouldn't be great if we could breed Kathy Jackson and Massad Ayoob, make gun rights warrior clones or something?

agreed, GRPC is a must-attend-if-at-all-possible event. my statements regarding the attendance were merely in response to the hypothetical of 40,000+ CGN'ers showing up to an event in Chicago, given how many showed up here.
i too picked up a mug at GRPC last year. bought it from myself while manning the CGF booth.
