With regards to 809, I am going to donate $25 to CGF (or CRPA) for every long-gun or lower I buy until this legislation is overturned. Reminds me, I need to go shopping today.

Really? Is that why Arnold signed the ammo bill and Jerry vetoed it?

Lets get the court case to repeal moving now!!!
I'd bet that the NRA is already salivating over what they are going to do to California in court over this one.

I'm picturing lawyers sharpening their quills and marketers getting ready to tell California's gun owners how they are going to have to register their rifles and shotguns and how the taxes from doing it are going to go to putting illegal aliens through college.

Lots of money and an almost certain winner in court! What more could the NRA want - especially since they've already effectively won the case in DC so they've already got authority (even if it is not precedential authority)?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is correct. And I think that Reagan and Ahnold signed some of the worst anti-RKBA legislation in California history.

I understand the feeling, because most Democrat politicians are the enemies of the RKBA and most Republicans are at least semi-friendly. But there are important exceptions which should be recognized.

There might be something to that. I bought a Mosin-Nagant M44 years ago from a Big5, then a few years later I obtained my 03 C&R FFL. I sold that particular M-N to a friend of mine FTF as I found a better example of a M44 for my collection. Well, one day my buddy was out shooting his rifles in the desert out by Barsto and a LEO drives up to them while they were shooting. He asks to look at the firearms and check the S/Ns and my friend lets him.

After checking the M44, he comes back to my friend and asked him where he got it/who he bought it from in a very serious tone. He remembered my name and told him and the LEO became at ease and said okay, then gave him back the M44 and left. Strange... perhaps the computer check returned my DROS data from my Big5 purchase and that it did not match my friend's name on his ID, causing the LEO to be suspicious. My friend was also shooting a Marlin rimfire bolt action he got at Basspro and a Rem 870 Express that I sold to him through a 01 FFL PPT and the LEO never asked him about those...both of which would have had the DROS data in his name.

olecuss, SB610, yes that was Rod Wright's bill. I think he can help us a lot going forward, and Lou Correa. You should read up on Rod Wright, very moderate and says some funny things too.

I love and admire the Gipper as the great conservative. However as Governor of California, he did signed the Mulford Act in 1967, "prohibiting the carrying of firearms on one's person or in a vehicle, in any public place or on any public street." The law was aimed at stopping the Black Panthers, but affected all gun owners.

As President, he did sign into law the great Firearms Owners Protection Act which took away some very harmful provisions of the 1968 Gun Control Act.

In a March 28th, 1991 speech, he said: "I support the Brady Bill, and I urge the Congress to enact it without further delay." I only hope he said this when he was ill and not clear minded.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I suggest that any one who doesn't want to get in trouble for UOC, should get a hunting license. To and from exempts you from the UOC law AB 144.

It's at least a CYA piece of paper.

AMEN brother, preach it.......because clearly Republican Governors have worked out so much better for us in the past

people, this is far from the worst that has happened to us. not ideal, but not the worst.

however today, we have people who know how to capitalize on the other sides actions. Not something we have had in the past.

IF the ban on UOC gives us shall issue LTC...I am ok with the "ban"
IF turning DROS into a tax that allows the first real chance to get ride of it all together....I am ok with it
                              No new restrictions on ammo...WIN!!!
Registration of Rifles...sucks, has possibility of being over turned, but if not..what can they do with this? Didn't Heller remove the registration leads to confiscation worry?

The battered gun owner syndrome runs strong in this thread.

Like most of you, not a fan of ANY restriction on a right, but I also live in the real world and understand that the reality is we are going to have to learn to live with some restrictions. we are going to win some, lose some. But for the first time in my life I feel like we have people who really get how laws are made, court battles won and how to capitalize on loses. Their momentum is just getting going, I am willing to give them a chance to prove them self. because prior to them, we were loosing and the ship was sinking fast. now, things are starting to turn around. give it time, we didn't get here over night, we aren't going to get everything repealed over night.

So I know we got a PDF of Jerry's letter about the long gun registration and the veto on the ammo bill.

Do we have any letters about his reasons for signing the DROS tax, the open carry ban, or the concealed carry bill? I'm really curious to see his responses on those issues.
