    CA legal MG42?

yah, it's off the wall, but I was wondering if anybody knew if the semi auto MG42s that are floating around out there are either CA legal as is (like 1919s) (I don't *think* they are, but I don't have one, so I can't tell), or if something like a bullet button could be made for them?

Just asking, since I might have a chance to get one from a guy in CO

As long as you remove the pistol grip, I think you'd be OK. Or, possibly converting it to a non-semi weapon.

        i've thought about it too.

i was going to weld a fin to the back of the grip, and then you'd have to deal with the flash supressor cone.

TNW makes or at used to make a CA legal MG-34 clone, and at one time had plans of making a MG-42 clone. That was a long time ago, and I am not sure of the status of any of their projects. Here is the text from their FAQ about how the CA legal version works.

          Q. Is the belt fed semi-auto MG34 legal in California?
          A. Yes. We built a special part for the MG34 for California. Since pistol grips are now a great sin against the people's republic of California, we have made a special trigger guard that does not have a pistol grip. The gun is old with a MG42 tripod and is fired by the tripod lever (as it was originally).

There's also a Ruger 10/22 modification that allows you to drop it into a MG42 lookalike stock/barrel set. Still just uses the 10/22 mags though.

jesus, you really need to pick a faster webpage to link from

I just browsed through the entirety of that TNW corp page, and it STILL hadn't finished loading
