Tranporting rifle case to Cow Palace CGN Booth; Lock it?

Hey, I'm planning on bringing a couple of old Marlin Leverguns for the CGN gun rack display at the show tomorrow morning.
Any recommendations from the experts here for legal transportation in the gun case, like locking the case?
Never had to think about it much, down here on the Central Coast. Don't know if I have locks that fit the case...

If you are 100% sure you are not going to be traveling through a school zone you don't have to lock em up. I always do just to be safe.

Okay. No school zones on the freeway and it's freeway all the way!
      Edit:
I'll lock 'em anyway since I found a couple locks that fit.
      Thanks

Jeez, I'm glad you brought this up. After all this time I still didn't realize I have to lock my long guns while driving to the range (I probably pass by schools depending on where I stop for coffee, etc.). Up until now I just made sure that handguns were locked.

        Thanks!
Being pro-gun rights in the Bay Area is like being a vegan at an Outback Steakhouse. You know you're right but nobody gives a damn.

The Federal school zone law says long guns must be in a locked case, the state law does not. They both require locked cases for handguns.

There are many, MANY school zones that encompass freeways. To be perfectly safe, put them in a locked case (trigger lock does not count).
