Evidently someone at the Brady Campaign goofed up big time by not reading the sign the way most intelligent people will read it.

That may not be a bad idea. But leave the 2A out of it. Just tell them how much we love their sign, what a wonderful public service they are doing, and encourage them to put them up in every state that that has such "lax" gun laws.

Maybe we can get them to expend their entire budget on these signs.

I believe this is an outgrowth of the "License to Murder" Campaign. It wasn't a Brady initiative IIRC, but an outgrowth of one of the "Against Gun Violence" shell organizations that the Joyce Foundation funds - but Brady was happy to pick up the meme.



This was about 5 years ago, as the NRA was promoting Castle Doctrine self defense statutes (no duty to retreat, etc) in the various States which were early and enthusiastic adopters of shall-issue CCW.

Frankly, I'm suprised that it's still up (or if it's new, that it's up at all).

FWIW - here's LCAV's "fact sheet" on "shoot first" laws. It's dated March 2009.

Added bonus: The Jansen paper cited so often by LCAV in their "fact sheet" was funded by the Joyce Foundation, too. Jeepers! Must be nice to be able to write your own research.
