    Our duties as gun owning Americans.

    Lots of talk about our rights under the second amendment, but to give a different spin, what are our duties?

    What do you guys think our duties are in regards to the second amendment.

    I bring this up because I view that the only thing "Collective" in the second amendment is our "Collective duty" to protect our country from enemies "foreign and domestic".

    If we go down this line of reasoning, we may be able to come up with ways to reach people and groups that we have not been able to reach at this point.

    So guys, what do you think are our "duties or responsiblities" as gun owners.

    To protect the amendment that secures all the others. To defend the right to life of every innocent person we can.

              Our duty to defend Amendment II is our duty to exercise the right, to read and know The Declaration of Independence from the beginning to end and the Constitution of the United States from the beginning to the end.

                  Our duties are to maintain our natural rights as freemen. Preserving our rights to life, liberty and property can only be done by those of us who have the power and will to fight an enemy that would seek to oppress and strip us of these rights. We have a duty to educate ourselves, our children, our neighbors and our friends about the constitution and what it means to be free. We out number those that would seek to destroy us and I keep this in mind when talking with people about the state in which this country is in..
                  Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.

                      "The Four Duties," according to Oaklander:

                      1) We gun owners MUST use firearms safely and responsibly. This is the most important duty.

                      2) We gun Owners MUST use firearms to protect those who need protection. This includes self, family, friends, and strangers.

                      3) We gun owners MUST stay active in the political arena, and MUST work to maintain our rights.

                      4) We gun owners MUST educate others in (a) safety, (b) self defense, and (c) politics.

                          I think it's our duty to realize that with all freedoms come responsibility. We need to handle, store and care for our weapons in a responsible manner to ensure the safety of our family, neighbors and community.

                          We need to educate those in our community, through our actions and examples that we as shooters are an asset to our communities, not a liability.

                          We need to be vigilant in defending our rights from those who would erode them for political gain.

                          We need to educate others in our sport by actively recruiting and welcoming new shooters, thereby ensuring the future of such freedom.
