Not at all. That just means they will be sneaky about it rather than open about it. They'll still go about their agenda, but roll back the time table. The anti 2A complex is a monster. Holding it by a leash isn't the only thing we need to do. We need to vanquish it.

"Temporary" was from 1994 to 2006 after the Dems had controlled both houses for over 40 years. It would have been a lot longer if the Republicans had not been such screw ups during the second half of that period. The 1994 defeat was a huge shock to the Dems and was a major upset by any standard.

One other thing that should be mentioned; the Speaker of the House (Tom Foley - Washington) was one of the Dems that lost the 1994 election after being in the House for 30 years (first elected in 1964). This was the first time a sitting Speaker had lost an election since the civil war era and I think it was only the second or third time it had ever happened. Since that time the Dems have had their leader in the Senate lose his seat (Thomas Daschle). Again this is something that is very rare and there were at least some gun politics involved in his defeat. I think Nancy and Harry are well aware of these little bits of recent history.

Even though the gun issue has been and continues to be radio active for the Dems I still think we need to watch them like hawks and jump hard on every little indication that they are making a move. The more they feel us breathing down their necks the less likely it is that they will try anything.

Same situation if it happens again. Maybe they will be thrown out of office. Frankly, I doubt it, as the electorate has changed considerably since the 90s, but that's another thread.

Maybe it will eventually overturned in SCOTUS due to Heller. But we will be stuck with it until than happens.
