    Salmon Fishing

Going fishing with guide Kevin Brock Wednesday on the Sacramento river. It won't be decided until later today if we will be fishing up river from Orland or out of Red Bluff. Sunday they got 12 fish and 6 yesterday in Orland/Chico area; but, had several limits Friday and Saturday in Red Bluff. Kevin said where we fish greatly depends upon how many new fish are moving up river and where his scouts believe they will be Wednesday. Not sure what the catch is today, but I'll know later this afternoon. I love catching salmon, but I'm not that fond of eating them, but never have a problem finding takers!

I'll check back in Thursday to let you know how the finishing went.

Good luck and happy fishing. My neighbor/hunting buddy is up in Alaska this week fishing for salmon.
We'll just give them the 'ol number 6.

Fresh salmon is tasty when they are chrome or close to it. Some of the fish that I've seen kept, well I wouldn't even feed them to my dogs.

Sac river fishing is a blast. You guys using kwikfish with sardine wrapper or roe?

I've gone fishing with Kevin on the exact same date (third Wednesday in August) for the past 4 years. We always used his home cured roe, but I heard that he's been using kwikfish in the morning and roe in the afternoon so far this season. But that could all change.

Not great, but not due to a lack of effort by the guide. We landed several but lost more. I lost a nice fish close to the boat within 10 minutes of fishing. Couldn't get the fish to cooperate. Next time we will get them!

Thanks for the report. Did you guys end up running those kwiks with roe?

How could the trip be not great when you landed several and lost more? In CA any day you land a salmon is a good day.

Your right. Last time we went with Kevin we had limits for all. hunting or fishing....I enjoy the trips regardless of the outcome.

Does he stick mostly to the upper Sac River?

What are his rates? My Google-Fu isn't working too well, I can't seem to find it on his website.

He goes where he thinks the fish are. He might be in Chico one day and Red Bluff the next. He's more expensive than the rest. ($225), but I have no problem paying that as his boat and equipment is top notch and with the exception of my last trip, we've always limited out. I plan on going again mid September. Give him a try and watch his fishing videos online. Best of luck!
