    turkey hunting

Where can I hunt Turkey in So Cal? Drove to Lake Henshaw to scout but there were all kinds of new buildings and stuff. I know hunting in So Cal sucks but there's gotta be some birds somewhere.

D13 has some public land that supposedly has turkeys on it. I've never seen 'em but the people in the know say they're there. Ask the forest service if they've seen any signs of them and where.

Hit the local NWTF meeting to share some info.

Also check out this turkey forum, lots of SoCal turkey folks on there.

San Luis Obispo County is full of 'em. When I'm visiting family near Paso Robles, the buggers run around on their property and taunt me. I've seen them all over the cost ranges and the range between Paso Robles and San Joaquin Valley.

Paso Robles and turkey hunting together would be like winning the lottery and the Masters in the same day. Two things I love in the same place!

Plenty of wild boar as well.

Not as much as I would like to. I squeeze in about two trips a year to the area between Paso Robles and Parkfield. I've started doing a little opportunistic hunting in an area between Carpinteria, Ojai and Ventura; not much public land, but lots of wild boar. The rest depends on what tags I draw, which lately has not been very good. I just rebuilt a Remington Model 8 in 35 rem that I want to use for an eastern Sierra deer hunt...soon.

Where can I get more info on the boar hunting in the Ventura/Ojai area? It is pretty close to me and I would like to get out and bag a boar for BBQ soon.
