Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

I must be missing something, but I don't quite understand your question.

"What's your 100 yard zero on you big game rifle?"

Is this one of those trick questions like; Who's buried in Grant's Tomb?

I prefer irons for hunting deer. In the area I use to hunt (and want to again), a 200 yard shot would be pushing it.

I have my go to guns zero'ed at 200, they will be slightly high at 100 or less, dead on at 2, dropping at 3

The well established rule of thumb for most modern cartridges and scoped rifles is sight in at 25 yrds, point of aim is point of impact. Check at 100 to ensure windage is correct.

On my 30-06, 243, 7mm-08, at 100 yds, I'm hitting about 3 1/2 inches high. That puts me back on point of aim, point of impact at about 225 to 250 yds and in the kill zone out to about 350 yds. kill zone = aim for hair, not air.

I also do the 2" high at 100 yards.

Something about the drop of a .30-06

                  What rifle?
                  Caliber?
                  Slug weight?
In my 1958 Remmy 760 30.06 with 150gr silver tips I sight in 3" high at 25 yards. That way from point blank to 450 yards if I center on the chest behind the leg the point of impact wont be more than 3 inches high or low, well within the kill zone.
Every rifle is different but the laws of physics (or ballistics) are constant. A little research on your caliber and slug weight will get you on paper but make NO MISTAKE..... fine tuning is a must at whatever range you choose.
Heh..... To you slug stackers who are about to slam me please understand I have NEVER been a benchrest shooter.

2" high generally. Short thumpers are on at 100 yds

You might want to check this site out... http://www.handloads.com/calc/
assuming a MV = 2800 fps, a ballistic coefficient of .418 (I looked it up for the sliver tips), a scoped rifle with a sight 1.5 inches above the bore and your 3 inches high at 25 yrds, you should be dead on again at about 575 yards.

If you're using iron sights your zero would be 2.9 high at 25, dead on at 500.

You're really not shooting deer at those ranges, are you?

                          The questions:
                          What cartridge are you shooting?
                          What is your target?
How far are you willing to shoot?

My 22.250 gets sighted in +1.5" at 100 yards (dope out to 1,000 yards)
My 6.5x284 is set at +2" at 100 yards (dope out to 1,000 yards)
My 375 H&H gets sighted in dead on at 100 yards for dangerous game but at 2.1" high at 100 yards for plains game.

1.5" at 100 in my .270, most of my shots are within 250 so there is no need for anything more. It may change if i go hunt antelope or something but i hunt elk, deer, pigs mostly so i can sneak up within 200 yards fairly easily.

I am 2'' high at 100 yards with the 7 mm mag 139 gmx 3300 fps.I did shoot paper out to 350 last spring and if my memory is right it did drop a few inches but would have still been a kill shot.
                              ..
Just wish i had a good rifle range in my area even if i had to drive a little it would be worth it.
Fjord i am willing to shoot 400 if i have to last season on a private ranch i had a nice buck pretty far out there .I decided to try to get closer to it and and 2 coyotes busted me and started barking i never saw that buck again and my friend gives me crap for not taking the shot.
