It's always a good time to hunt pigs. In the winter and spring they tend to spread out more. In the summer/fall they usually concentrate near permanent water and feed.

Devil dog, have you had any luck hunting pigs near Coalinga? I made it out there once but only got in a short hike.

Yes now is a good time before it warms up too much.

If you are just killing pigs anytime is good

This year is gonna be a hot one, at least if it continues at this rate. That means a lot of mud-bathing pigs

Now the question is, where to do it? They always move up onto private property.

I have considered just putting ads up on craigslist: "Will cap yo pigs fo free. Me and my friends is strapped as hell and we gots them huntin licenses. What's good?"

I'm thinking this year the trick is gonna be to find water. With little rain they're not going to be spread out everywhere.

That could be a closeup of three rats killed in the garage.

Is it just me or do pigs and rats seem to be the same animal

I was thinking about trying a hunt, but I am not sure where to go and have heard they are really dirty diseased animals as well, but I assume that if you cook the meat it is safe?

Dirty diseased animals? really? Did the person you "heard" this from ever hog hunt or have any experience with hogs? I doubt they did.

It was a very baised source.

An entertainment show, Hogs gone wild, that was discussed by me in general discussion about a week ago.

We all pretty much agreed that the show had several agendas.

But in the show they warned of TB, Anthrax, Hepatitis, and others.

But they also donated the dead hogs generated by the hunt to poor families, so I have to assume that whatever the problem is or is not, cooking solves it.
