I have heard very good things about Black Cloud. They seem to perform well as my brother tells me. They are on the expensive side but you get what you pay for.

With steel you want speed. How much duck hunting will you be doing? If you are only going a time or two then you can go with the black cloud, etc.
Personally I shoot Estate's as we get them by the case and I'll shoot anywhere from 1-2+ cases a year depending on how good the hunting is. Wallyworld had some of the Winchester lower priced line of shells at $8.49/box for 12" 2-3/4" #2's, and #4's. Even 3" were around $10/box.
I haven't tried black cloud but only b/c of the cost. It's come down and in fact I've seen some of the snow goose line for like $17/box at Sportsmens Warehouse..Originally posted by jmonte35Disagree. Been trying to teach lewdogg21 how to hunt. It's like trying to teach Steve Wonder how to see. Not sure we're ever going to get there.Comment

I'm not all that impressed with Black Cloud.. I bought a box of BB's for geese and find that the Kent Fast Steel in BB are more effective and have yielded me more geese or maybe my Gold doesn't like the Black cloud.. I've had good luck with Estate 1 1/8 oz @ 1475 fps, Kent Fast Steel if I can find it on sale, 1 1/8 @ 1560 fps in 3". This season I bought 2 cases of the inexpensive Winchester 3" 1 1/8 oz in 2's and 3's @ 1550 fps and they have been just fine. I think wally world sells these for 9.99/25. I shoot a Carlson Improved Cylinder for everything waterfowl but am debating swapping up to a light modified.
I did buy some component Tungsten last year.. 10 pounds of shot yielded me 140 ish shells @ 1 1/8 oz wt and about 1450 fps velocity.. half was 2's, half was 4's. The tungsten 4's proved effective on ducks and the 2's were effective on geese. The problem was still cost.. after loading them myself, they were STILL $1.25/round. So if I missed, every shot fired hurt my wallet.. I tried hard NOT to miss, lol. I don't like using #4 steel as I find it's just a bit light and if there is any wind or storminess, it doesn't work as well as the heavier 2's or 3's.Comment

I like kent's burns clean. It is the most popular brand of shells for water fowl hunter's at least in my area.
Fiocchi is also good shotgun ammo.Originally Posted by olhunter View Post

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.ProShooter's
You'd never guess that human beings are apex predators reading some of the weepy vaginas in this thread, it's a moose people, who cares.Comment

The Kent's burn clean in your gun? strange.. Kent, Estate, etc.. any hunting load always leaves all kinds of gunk in the action on my Gold.. slower burning powder, somewhat light payload, and even at max pressure still eventually gunks everything up..Comment

I have shot the Kent Steel and Faststeel for many years in my Gold and it seems to pattern better than the others I have used. On Geese I shoot the Black Cloud with excellent results. I use a modified choke and kill geese over decoys and pass shooting. When they hit the ground they are dead.
I shoot on average 2 cases of steel shot each duck season, I also shoot steel 7 1/2's on dove with excellent results. It's faster and patterns better in my o/u than lead.Comment
