IHOP in Barstow CA, they don't like kids hunting & reneged on promise. Boycott time

Boooo IHOP in Barstow CA. They offered to help serve part of the breakfast for the recent Mojave NP Youth Quail Hunt and when they found out it was for kids hunting they pulled their pancakes and sausages back.

I think next time I'm heading through Barstow I'll stop and let that manager know my shadow will never fall in his restaurant as long as he treats the youth in the community like that.

From their website on Social Responsibility. Maybe I missed it, I don't see the part about anti hunting agendas and reneging on promises.

I do kinda like their food but......they need to keep their feelings about hunting to themselves. Every member of Calguns and JHO should take a few minutes out of their day and make a call to the resturant manager and support center. I'll cook my own breakfast or eat some where else.

Boycott pancakes, and buy more tacos.
Luckily, the anti-hunting attitude IHOP displayed, was not shared by Del Taco. Del Taco supplied free lunches for all the participants and volunteers at the MNP Jr. Quail Hunt.

All IHOP's are franchises and I must agree that this one is one of the worst. Further, I have seen their kitchen....Gagggggggg to say the least.

The only time I stop in Barstow these days is for a R&R break at the Flying J on Lenwood when driving to/from Vegas and my home.

Every time Iv'e stopped somewhere else in Barstow I've feared for my life or my health...

Bob Burke, the cook for the youth hunt, told me on a phone call today he approached the Barstow IHOP manager 2 months before the hunt and was told that the IHOP would donate pancake mix. I've talked with the IHOP district manager and they do donations all the time, this IHOP included.

Anyway, Bob went back the night before he was to leave for the hunt to pick up the 5 gallon buckets of pancake mix and the manager said since it was for hunting and that IHOP was now an "environmentally friendly" company they were not going to donate the mix. This left Bob to scramble to buy some mix to make the meals. Paying for the food isn't the issue, backing out at the last minute and then going anti-hunter is the rub.

The IHOP district manager told me that the Barstow IHOP manager George is claiming no recollection of any commitment for the youth hunt or Bob even trying to pick up the pancake mix.

More I'm sure since the two sides of the story don't match. Only one side makes sense so far.

Want breakfast in Barstow? Jimenez Restaurant just off I-15 at the Barstow Rd exit. The owner is a hunter and they have mounts all over the restaurant.

I'll go a little further and say boycott the whole IHOP chain. It seems pretty cruddy to back out on supporting a decent youth project.

The IHOPs are franchises Chuckar Hunter. From what I understand the owner/manager can set their own policies at each store.
