    CA Hunting License Question

I haven't purchased a license in 4-5 years but I was able to find my '03 license. Will that suffice when I go to putchase a 2011 license or will I have to go through all the classes, etc. again?

You're fine. All you need to buy a license is an old license.

You don't need an old one... all you have to do is ask for the Affirmation form. If you've ever had a hunting license in a prior year in California then you can just fill in that little form and swear that you did but can't find it and they'll sell you a new license without issue. I do it every year because I'm too lazy to keep track of last year's license... well that and I figure if they're going to make the form available, I'll use it so it stays available.

After this year California will have an electronic database. Renewals will just need a valid CDL or other ID.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm with duckman. Oregon has done it for years and it's so much nicer

Was in the dept. of fish and game office a few weeks ago picking up a license and some tags. They are totally automated; no more paper application. Whether the retail stores adopt this model sooner rather than later is a technology issue on their end; per fish and game it should be complete in the next 6 months.

Yup. Print your license and tag right there at the register. I wonder though if small time gas station/baitshops like the one I get my stuff from will be able to buy the equipment. Time will tell.
