    Are toads edible?

I see toads listed as eligible to take under the fishing code, but are they even edible? A couple of sources say they have glands that can secrete poison on their skin, and another says not to eat toads. If the skin is removed are the legs edible?

This is the species in my area: http://www.californiaherps.com/frogs...alophilus.html

If they were, I'm sure they'd be on the menu in some ethnic restaurants and the survivalists would have recipes posted all over the net

But hey, try one and report back to us ...

The main question that comes to mind for me is....Why would you want to eat one?, I mean all that work for even two or three bites that may cause you to have severe hallucinations?... hmmm wait a minute

Really, seriously, do you care? If they are edible are you actually going to eat one?

I've eaten frog legs before and they were good, but toads sound like they might fall under a different category. I'm not sure why DFG lists them as takeable unless they are either edible or people collect them as pets. In a survival situation, would the meat be edible?

Sure, I like to try exotic meats. The 5 or so domestic animals get boring quickly.

In that case I suggest ditching the toads for the way tasty rattle snake; no I am not kidding, they're really good tasting.
