So I’ve been to the state capitol on numerous occasions to oppose numerous anti hunting legislation bills. What I’ve seen on numerous occasions by those looking to restrict our hunting rights is the use of hunters own media posts against us. Some of this comes off hunting forums, websites and the majority off of Facebook.
Next time your online and want to comment or post something about hunting please take a moment and think about wether the content you are posting or commenting on can be used against us. Im not saying we as hunters need to hide. In fact just the opposite. Showing who we really are and what we do is the definition of conservation and should be known.
Recently there has been a post on numerous Facebook hunting groups of some guy hitting a wild hog in the head with a rock and it’s gotten under my skin. The post seems to originate from Australia which is obviously out of anyone’s control but the sharing of such content and humorous comments are. This isn’t helping us. It simply provides ammunition to those looking to take away our hunting rights. Another example is people using tannerite to blow up pigs (I’m on a lot of pig hunting Facebook groups). The comments include how “awesome” it would be to do such a thing or how “funny” it is. It’s neither. It’s lame. And to advertise such behavior as anything other than unethical is detrimental to the image of hunting and future of hunting in California itself
California hunters are at the mercy of its liberal government and lobbyists. California is a testing ground for anti hunting legislation. And as such we have no choice to but to represent ourselves as the most ethical and conservative hunters in the nation.
