Hi All,
Had a crew out to Utica a couple weeks ago (25 including the Munchkins). They've put pit toilets and named our usual camp area a "PAY" to camp spot, with 7 designated sites, at 16 bucks per night. The FS also have closed or gated several roads/trails where you could drive to a wilderness camp. Now you have to carry your gear in. If you plan accordingly (which I didn't), not so bad. Lean towards "back packing" style prep, with less ice chests, or bring ones with wheels and/or a hand truck. Still some good free places (if you get there by Wednesday-summer crowd), within a short walk or drive, for the ladies, to the heads. Shooting is a short walk away from the reservoir. Surprisingly, the water quality and level was good, but a little too warm for fish. After Labor Day it becomes free, like the rest of the camps. PAX
