Spark arrestor only is fine, a muffler just makes the ride more pleasurable. IMO of course.
The one pictured will work just fine. get it before that carbs are tuned

Don't forget that you have to wear a helmet now in dune buggies.

Keep the dual carbs, I have not had to retune mine in years. If you get it done correctly, they work great.

you might want to go to the DMV to try and get it registered for the Green sticker. you may have to pay all the back registration fees and penalties.

Yeah I figured that I will have to pay back fees, hopefully he put it in non op back in 2009 so its les but most likely it will cost me a few hundred.

So I did some digging and the back fees are only about $150.

I still don't know if I should put a muffler/arrestor or just the arrestor.

Im not sure as to how the back pressure from the muffler will be or if it really even matters on the bug motor.

I dont care about the noise I just want the best performance. What do you guys think?

You might start doing some homework and find buggy sites for more info.


An old friend of mine thought he was going to get into buggies after moving down south.

Oceana Dunes in Pismo is summertime sand. You have to pay but it's vast and worth it. Nice and cool now.

Wintertime it's Glamas off Hwy 78. Best dunes in the state, like saudi arabia out there. 110 right now, I'd wait a few months.

It's actually kicking all year round. Our winters are pretty mild. 63 today
