    Recommend a good emergency radio

I'm looking for a radio for emergency use. Must have:
    - Multiple power sources, the more the better (Solar, hand crank, battery, AC, ...)
    - AM, FM, Shortwave ...
    - Rugged
    - < $100

I was inspired by an ad in the Wall Street Journal for this radio:
Eton's American Red Cross emergency devices include all weather, solar powered radios, emergency flashlights & LED nightlights.

    What do you have?

i Have the cc observer about 40$, great reception am/fm, weather was a little low reception but it is hand cranked, aa or you can buy the ac jack. i chose it because it had a light up display which most radios dont , which would be great in a black out

Reviews of the hand cranked radios seem to be really hit or miss. I'm not a big fan of built in batteries so I've gone with a small C.Crane unit that runs on 2 AA so that I can keep a stockpile of regular ones and a smaller pile rechargeable that can be recharged using solar or my truck batteries.

This one indeed looks good. And it has shortwave, which has now become a requirement. No hand crank, maybe that's ok.

I have a few of these little guys tucked away in various bags and Faraday cages, and they work surprisingly well for $30:

Kaito Pocket-Size AM/FM & Shortwave Radio with Alarm Clock and LED flashlight, KA202L

They run on AA batteries but I'm setup for solar charging so I don't worry about the power supply. I have an older Eton solar/dynamo model and the receiver is horrible. Kaito makes several solar/dynamo models so I'd feel comfortable trying one of those based on how well their KA202L's work.

As long as the ammo can is grounded.

Someday, when I am rich, I am going to build a faraday cage....

                          Thanks!

This one looks perfect: AM/FM/SW, many power sources:

I have the CC Crane SWPocket Radio.
Best radio I have bought, hands down. No knobs or levers to break.
