The Buck 110 Auto Knife meets CA definition of a switchblade knife. [PC 17235]

    Which makes it illegal to:
    1. Advertise for sale or transfer in CA. [PC 21510(c)]
    2. Carry in CA. [PC 21510(b)]
    3. Possess within the space accessible by the driver or passenger of a vehicle, while in any public place within CA. [PC 21510(a)]

    Penal Code 17235
As used in this part, "switchblade knife" means a knife having the appearance of a pocketknife and includes a spring-blade knife, snap-blade knife, gravity knife, or any other similar type knife, the blade or blades of which are two or more inches in length and which can be released automatically by a flick of a button, pressure on the handle, flip of the wrist or other mechanical device, or is released by the weight of the blade or by any type of mechanism whatsoever. "Switchblade knife" does not include a knife that opens with one hand utilizing thumb pressure applied solely to the blade of the knife or a thumb stud attached to the blade, provided that the knife has a detent or other mechanism that provides resistance that must be overcome in opening the blade, or that biases the blade back toward its closed position.

    Penal Code 21510
Every person who does any of the following with a switchblade knife having a blade two or more inches in length is guilty of a misdemeanor:
    (a) Possesses the knife in the passenger's or driver's area of any motor vehicle in any public place or place open to the public.
    (b) Carries the knife upon the person.
    (c) Sells, offers for sale, exposes for sale, loans, transfers, or gives the knife to any other person.

Which companies are those? Just curious...

              I have a 110 & 112 in my collection.
FYI, I can open the non auto just as fast as the auto. I carry the classic112 daily.

I've at those before when they were a lot cheaper.

Wish it had a pocket clip.

Of course, then it would no longer have that Buck signature look.

Switchblades are like porn - OK in the privacy of your own home.
The online knife companies I've seen have you check a box that it's legal for you to purchase. There are a whole lot of loopholes in the 1958 Federal Switchblade act that may allow you to purchase. Buck will not sell automatics direct on their web site you need to use a distributor.

True... these are my favorite Bucks and favorite autos... I like them more than OTF's like Ultratechs and Heretics, etc... something classic about putting a button on a Buck 112 or 110... Blade HQ had the PRO 110's in S30V for $188 or something reasonable. I got my standard 112 and custom knapped 110 on the secondary for really cheap in my opinion. Great knives. If there is any negative at all, they need to stay well oiled and CLP is even better. Keep the track and joints oiled a bit and they will fire hard. I love that they open fast and close with the lockback... and the looks of course.

If these have too be sent back to Buck for repair, will Buck send this back to the customer if the customer is located in California?
