Diamondback Mountain Bike

Original, retired owner, only maybe a dozen rides on smooth pavement, otherwise this bike has spent its life inside in our living room.

I can't say that it's new but it is as "unused" as any can get. It is in beautiful shape, everything works as well as on day one, took it to the bike shop a few days ago just to make sure that it is ready to serve the new owner. The brakes are excellent, it shifts perfectly up and down, the shock works like new.

It is a great looking bike - I've got lots of compliments the few times I rode it.
It has that classic cross country hardtail styling with a lot of modern trail riding spin. It is light and nimble, very comfortable, climbs hills like a mountain goat and is fast enough to keep up with road bikes.

It will serve you well for many years.

So, what is the difference between a cheap factory-built desktop computer sold in mega-stores and one that is hand-built with hand-picked parts?

Dell, HP, Gateway and others sell computers for profit. They make a lot of money on every unit sold. They have the power to use custom designed proprietary parts they buy at rock bottom prices from China. Changing a failed part is a major hassle and at times may be impossible due to their efforts to prevent users from altering anything inside their box. Replacing a fried part might not be possible at all because of the custom designed proprietary parts and/or tools needed. Once something goes wrong past their warranty they want you to buy a whole new unit from them. These boxes are full of compromises in order to toe the "Sellable" line but for the least possible money invested in making them.

When you build a computer from scratch for yourself you want it to be the best! Strong, fast, extremely reliable, full of features and good looking too! Buying each part separately and assembling everything by hand is of course more expensive than getting one pre-built factory unit at Best Buy - but the advantages are more than worth all the money and effort. You can oversize everything to be able to withstand constant spikes and brown-outs in our electrical supply, easily handle continuous high-level usage day in and day out for many, many years and handling even the toughest demands with ease. You can build in redundancies at all levels so that when some element fails - hey, we are talking about electronic parts most of which comes here from China - then another unit is fully prepared to seamlessly take over the load and keep things running like nothing happened. One of the strongest reasons for building a computer yourself is that if any part fails you can quickly and easily replace it! The same goes for upgrades: If you decide to get the newest super-duper video card just get one and plug it in! I hope that you can now clearly see the difference.

I have built this computer with those goals in mind. It is running Windows 11, has an SSD for fast booting and loading of programs, a separate hard drive for storing ~700 GB of data and files, 32 GB of working memory (Which means that pretty much every program you will use concurrently will run in lighting fast memory at all times!), in a case with a front panel that supports hot-swapping of drives and a window panel, a video card that can connect two monitors at the same time, a great DVD-CD writer, built-in Bluetooth for you to easily connect your devices, Double ESATA connectors for lightning fast backups and data transfer and redundant network adapters.
