Up for sale is a beautiful condition Israeli surplus FN Hi Power. This particular pistol was not a police pistol, as were most of these found on the surplus market, but military issue, complete with IDF markings and a parkerized finish that is is great shape.
While technically a MKIII, it lacks the MKIII firing pin block and is known among collectors as a "MKII.5". Unlike commercial market HP's, it also has a rib that runs from the trigger guard along the length of the dust cover, which is common only on contact HP's. Some say this is done as a reinforcement to add strength to the frame, other say it's something on the frame blank that's typically machined off of commercial HP's, and a skipped step on contract pistols as a cost cutting measure to give the buyer a better price.
Regardless, it's a beautiful pistol with very little internal wear indicating little use. Like most of these pistols, I would surmise it was carried lots and shot little; rifling is strong.
