Took me 2 months to find one and now I have to let her go....
She's a Taylor and Co. better than new in the box. I've installed a Wolff reduced power mainspring after I deburred and
polished the internals, degreased then coated everything with Ballistol. Screws are torqued to 7 in lbs. like they are supposed to be. (for those that don't know about an 1873.) The hammer is still heavy, but the trigger pull is exactly 3 lbs. with a positive sear lockup. (hammer pulls back before dropping.) I don't know if you know the difference between a negative, neutral and positive lockup. Positive is much better. Could go lighter with a reduced power bolt/sear spring. But 3 lbs is safer.
I put one on 1 of my 1858's and the pull dropped to 1 1/4 lbs. Don't even breathe with the hammer back...Had to put the stock
bolt/sear spring back to bring it up to 2 lbs. to be safe.
I haven't even fired the 1873 yet...I paid $560 + shipping and was thinking of letting her go for $650 since she has been so loved and needs someone new to sleep with....no need for a Smithy, This sweetheart is so smooth.
Hard to get a good pic. She's a couple shades darker. All the silver is actually bright gold. Case coloring is gorgeous.
Uberti did a good job with this one. I hate to part with her but I'm living in a Jeep at the moment.
