A new "Express" with synthetic furniture may cost about the same. But I'd much rather have a well worn Parkerized Police Magnum or Blued Wingmaster (pictured), than the new bead blast Express model for the same price. Some of the other reasons were discussed at the beginning of the thread.

Huh - I didn't know that the Wingmaster came in a magnum. That is different, as you point out.... I thought that any 870 "Magnum" was by default an Express.

If they are selling blued Wingmaster 870 Magnums for $320, then that does seem like a decent deal.

safe affidavit?

Went in to RCGE this evening and got a G22 and 870. I did not need to buy a lock with my safe affidavit. Again, see the OAG website.

to qualify for the safe affidavit, do you just need to sign something before you take the gun home?

or do you need to bring a signed copy from home? with the model number and brand of the safe?

Write the name and model number of your safe on your FSC. You just need that information at the store.

I bought a 870 express police trade in from them about nine years ago. Clean bore, walnut stock. I took it to a 4 day shotgun class a couple years ago and it functioned flawless. No complaints with the purchase for those considering the trade in 870s.

I checked with the safe company and they told me my safe is an older model and they dont have the model number.

I called them and they said if it's a new gun that comes with a lock you dont have to buy another lock.

Omega - if you worry about them charging you for a lock, why don't you just beforehand buy a lock from Walmart which is CA approved and show them the receipt, return it after you're done. Think solutions my brother ;-)
