Is anyone using any apps for finding your range distances? My range finder goes to 1k only. I am shooting estimated ranges. I have heard of apps where you can get line of sight distances. Any info? Thanks.

Ballistics AE works great and limits out at 4000 meters. JBM also has a web only app that works extremely well.
The problem with any ballistics software that i have tried and used is it puts a lot of faith that the BC is correct from the factory. Ballistics AE also trues the drop by changing muzzle velocity, In my experience this is the wrong way to handle the problem. It's the BC that needs work but that's after you have good atmospheric data input as well. if you don't have good atmospheric data you may as well guess and be just as close.
It all comes down to "You get out exactly what you put in" if you want quick and dirty numbers, it will do that all day, if you want something closer than one mill at range then you are going to need to refine your data and make sure you update station conditions for weather. Temp altitude and humidity all add up to a couple mil at 1000 metersLast edited by kcstott; 04-11-2017, 5:01 AM.Comment
