    Even more AR trigger questions

Specifically, trigger jobs and what NOT to do.

I've built my first AR, nothing special, just good middle of the road components, and I've found I don't like the feel of the trigger. I'm comparing it to what I know, 1911's, and I've done my own trigger jobs on 'em with success, 3 1/2 lbs nice and crisp.

I've done the "15 minute trigger job" on my AR with a little improvement, but I would like to take more of the creep out, and this is where I need to know what not to do, like don't you even try (fill in the blank) or you'll get slam fires.

My inclination is to hone down the hammer hook, like on a 1911, but I figure they are that long for a reason, so, my question is what can I do beyond the 15 minute method to improve the creep, and, what should I NOT do to try and get the trigger pull of my dreams.

    Thanks

My suggestion is that you give m24armorer a call. I debated as to which after-market trigger to buy to give me a no creep-light pull trigger.

I figured I'd give m24armorer a try since the cost is only $35.00. I've got to tell you, I couldn't be happier with the trigger job he did!

You won't get a trigger like a nice 1911 unless you go aftermarket.

Taking more creep out means go aftermarket.

The 15-minute-trigger-job works on trigger pull because you significantly lower the hammer spring weight. Doing that may cause ftf's; for a range gun probably no problem. I would not go near the 15 minute job on an sd/shtf/teotwawki gun

JP springs may help, next up in cost is perhaps a RRA 2-stage ordered from WOA and breathed on by John Holliger.

Reading your post, I'm thinking you won't be satisfied without an aftermarket fcg, maybe Geiselle (sp??).

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

        Buy an aftermarket trigger.
If you cut through the surface hardening of stock parts, the trigger job wears out in 1K-2K rounds and it usually starts doubling if you re-timed the disconnector as part of the job.

JP's trigger is adjustable for sear engagement and overtravel if you want to fine tune it right to the edge.
