First handgun, cleaning supplies I ordered got here the other day, now I need to field strip and clean this thing. Wondering, where do you guys clean your guns at home? Obviously bottles all states "well ventilated area" does that mean outside? Is it a bad idea to lay out my mat inside and clean her up?

Wherever I have space.
I think you just want to avoid breathing in too much of the fumes.Comment

I clean it when no one is home with the doors open. You don't really need lots of solvent just enough to get a patch or two slightly wet. I use a drip bottle and just leave a few drops on a patch. Try brushing the stuff out first. Also a good size gun cleaning mat or pad or would keep your work area clean. Avoid contaminating other areas if you decide to do it inside.Don't take refuge in the false security of consensus.

Fall/Winter in the garage. In the summer or > 80F in the Garage? I've got a plastic folding table and I do it in the living room where there is A/C. But that's why I like Mpro7
no smell, no need for ventilation. I still wear gloves though - there is crap inside the gun that I don't need on my hands.

I have a spare bedroom that I use as a work space. I love the smell of gun oil, but if I'm doing some heavy degreasing I might crack the window and turn on the ceiling fan.Comment

I like my workbench in the garage when its not cluttered. But today, we are not limited to potent smelling(although I like em) cleaning agents. there's a cleaner/lubricant that smells real good that goes by the name of Frog Lube that cleans real well and wifey doesnt mind the smell when used indoors. Its Minty and is non-toxic,if kids are a concern.Comment

Kitchen table on towel next to a sliding door usually open with ceiling fan. When I'm finished I usually try and wipe down the table. (we never eat there anyways)
I try and use the back patio table if I can."The purpose of living is to find something worth dying for"Comment

When I had just guy roommates I cleaned guns in the living room while watching something gun related on TV or in my room doing the same thing. Since moving back in with my parents for a while, I still clean in my room, but I have to close the door, seal it, and not open it for an hour just so I don't hear so much *****ing from the super smeller."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
