"sawed off shotgun" project idea ..

so i found someone wanting to get rid of a Pedersoli Magnum Double Barrel 10 Gauge Shotgun front stuffer for a very good price only shot a few times no errosion and wondering if these BP shotgun have any collectors value before chopping it up into parts for a rebuild

    (just a google image)

and seeing that i have wanted a legal "sawed off shotgun" for as long as i can remember i am thinking about a "howdah" style weapon out of it like this except i would prefer to make the stock more in the style of the orig auto & burglar

    (just a google images)

anywho what ya all think should i buy it and keep it as-is, chop it up and have fun ?

or forget the whole idea and just stick to a off the shelf howdah ?

any safety concerns from cutting down BP barrels?

and to clarify BP is Exempt from the NFA correct?

so no concerns there witth barrels or OAL correct ?

    suggestions/ideas ?
