12 gauge question

Would it be possible for me to build my own pistol with a rifled barrel chambered in 12 gauge, would it be considered a shotgun still because from what I have read is that because the barrel has rifling that it isn't classified as a shotgun, please correct me if I am wrong, I just think it would be cool to buil a draco style saiga 12, but I know its basicly impossible to get a short barrel shotgun here, let me know if it could be done or if I misinterpreted the whole barrel thing, thanks.

Um.. there are aftermarket rifled barrels mean for sabots and slugs only on the market for Remington and maybe one or two other makes of shotgun. Plain rifled shotgun barrels that are not already made into something might be hard to come by.

If the chamber is designed to accept a shotgun shell it is a shotgun barrel even if it has rifling in it. Look at the Taurus Judge, it has a rifled barrel but was designed to shoot a .410 shotshell, therefore it is a SBS.

Dam that's pretty cool to I still wanna try and make a saiga cuz a semi auto 12 gauge pistol with a ten round clip would just be rape haha, anyone know on factory saiga 12 replacement parts for sale to make my life alitttle easyer, or could I buy a saiga 12 chop it up,modify use all the parts on a new reciver I made and do it that way

That's y I said a rifled barrel because I remember reading a shotgun was classified because it had a Smith barrel obviously I was mistaking, still will have to make a Shorty saiga 12 after I move out of ca, ill stick to a few ak builds right now, thanks everyone for your input and clearing that up for me.
