AR upper build: using old bolt and charging handle

Can I use my old bolt and charging handle in a new upper with a new barrel? I was thinking maybe the bolt assembly after some use gets worn to fit the upper and barrel it was used in.

Bolt assembly and charging handle are both Colt.

It can be done, but you should check the headspace once assembled, if it closes on a 'field' gauge then you could have issues.

If I were to use the same barrel in the new flatop upper would that create any potential problems?

if the barrel and bolt comination where the same it should be fine. The reciever has nothing to do with the headspace. Unlike many others the bolt locks into the barrel extension on the barrel, not the reciever. The uppers purpose is contain and hold the parts in alignment, not headspace, actually one of the things that makes an ar unique.

          No

its only mixing bolt/barrel that can potentially cause an issue.

The upper has nothing to do with the headspace.
