Gen5 Glock trigger reset issue, trigger spring.

    A little background:
New to me Gen5 G19 with unknown round count from previous owner + 100 rounds from myself in the short time I’ve had it. All original oem Glock parts, no modifications of any kind. No issues with live fire or dry fire until today.

I was getting in some daily dry fire practice and a few minutes in I noticed the trigger didn’t reset after racking the slide. Thought, perhaps, I didn’t rack the slide back far enough to allow the trigger to reset, so racked it back a bit further and trigger reset without issue. Went ahead a did a couple more dry fires and, again, trigger didn’t reset after slide rack. Thought that was odd since I don’t recall this happening with the other 10+ Glocks I’ve owned. I went ahead and field stripped to diagnose the problem and noticed the trigger bar didn’t look quite right.

In the above photo, the trigger bar is pushed a bit forward of where it should be sitting. Also, the cruciform shows slightly out of place, which would be expected since it is a part of the trigger bar.

For comparison, I took a side-by-side picture of both Gen5 19s to illustrate the position the trigger bar should be in (right side) vs. the pushed forward position (left side).

After removing the trigger housing mechanism, I could see the trigger spring assembly was pushing up and forward on the underside of the cruciform. I’m not sure how, or at what point, this happened (previous owner or during the month or so I’ve had it), but, at any rate, here we are.

On the Gen5, the cruciform differs from that of a Gen3 in that it doesn’t have the metal tab extending downward with a hole for the trigger spring (don’t own any Gen4s so can’t speak to how those may differ). Instead, the Gen5s trigger spring has a metal piece with what I guess you could call a shoe where the forward part of the cruciform inserts into and is held in place keeping the trigger bar in the correct position.

Above, the cruciform is now correctly inserted back into the metal shoe on the trigger spring preventing it from moving forward. Re-assembled, function checked and everything is back to 100%. I’m still scratching my head at how or when this might have happened. My guess would be it happened before I acquired it, most likely reassembled incorrectly in a rush. Either way, it was an easy fix. Glad it happened during dry fire practice instead of during a class or range qualification. Anyhow, just wanted to share in case anyone can benefit from it.
