    AK headspacing

How hard is it to reduce headspace on a romy G? May have a chance to get a kit with a non matching bolt.

    Thanks!

Try to find a matching kit if at all possible. Adjusting headspace on an AK is no easy task. There are still matching kits around.

      headspace

EASY... Lock your bolt with GO guage inside your trunion. Press your barrel in untill you feel resistance. If trunion pin hole allined perfectly with the cut on your barrel just pin it in place. If it went a bit far or not far enough for perfect allinment you need to drill larger pin hole and use oversized pin. In my experience, 8 out of 10 barrels will headspace correctly.

i wouldnt recomend it. headspace is a very tight tolerance, just a little too much and kaboom, danger will robinson.

If you do it yourself it might cost a few fingers or an eye.

If you get it done by a professional builder, probably just a few dollars more than an all-matching kit build.

Don't count on it being out of spec, just because it's mismatched. I got 2 mismatched G kits from a member here a while ago and both headspace just fine. If it's a good enough deal, I'd say go for it. I'f not then spend a few bucks more and get a matching kit. But I'd be willing to bet you won't have a problem, and on the off chance you do, it should be pretty easy to fix.

            just my 2 cents
