    GSSF March 16-17 Davis, CA

Thinking about doing this match, never done one before. Anybody going?

What should I expect when I get there and how many divisions is reasonable to run?

I would get there early and make sure to sign in on all of the stages before you shoot. This will give you priority on squadding when you come back later to shoot. I always suggest shooting at least 2 divisions as it usually takes the first one to figure out how the stages work and figure out what you are doing.

    What Glocks do you have?

Unless something changed theres no squadding, its more first come first served. I also agree do at least 2.

OK, this would be my suggestion keeping in mind I shoot 9 divisions at these matches.

G17- Competition and Amateur Civilian in that order. This would be the absolute minimum I would suggest. You would use Comp as a warmup and to figure out how the whole thing works then once you have it all figured out shot AmCiv. You can also shoot this in Master Stock as an additional warmup.

Add ons for fun and merriment!

          G26- Subcompact
          G34 w/ Dot- Unlimited
          G20- Heavy Metal
G29- Major Sub & HM. You can use this in place of the G20
          G40MOS- MOS

You should have at least 4 mags per division you are shooting and bring 150 rounds per division in case of a reshoot.

Good luck and have fun! 👍

GSSF absolutely has squadding although maybe not in the traditional sense. Once they take your stickers and put them on a scoresheet they put them on a "christmas tree" that holds 12 scoresheets. This establishes the "squad" for that series of shooters. Of course this is revolving through the day.

I’d like to make it, and I’m pretty sure I will. Just need to make sure my buddy can make the suicide run with me. If I do, I’ll be there first thing Saturday to shoot my 9 divisions.

Shot my first at Oak tree last Saturday, my advice is to bring a folding chair. Over 5 hours standing around, to shoot maybe 10 minutes, was not fun.
I wouldn't show up early either. Couple of buddies arrived an hour after me. Wound up leaving together.
Betsy might have rented a couple of benches.

What day did you shoot? I shot Sunday, arrived at just after 0730 and was done with 9 divisions by lunchtime. I did bring my own chair, but I didn?t really need it as there was ample places to sit around.

I shot Sat & Sun. 5 divisions Sat and 4 Sun. Sat I shot 3 in the morning and was done around 11. I puttered around a bit and checked out the sales then grabbed a burger and was headed back up to 5 to Glock with the other 2 guns a little after noon. Around lunch and a bit after they got a little shorthanded on 5toG so I pitched in for a bit there then headed down to M. Thats where I ran into a little bottleneck and it took maybe 45 minutes to get through there? Finished up on the plates and I was out before 3. Sunday I shot the last 4 divisions and was done around 10:30 with most of the time spent waiting for Roundeye to shoot his 9 guns. 🤦*♂️😂 Then I went through with another friend that got there around 11. She shot her 3 guns and we were eating lunch up by Magic Mountain by 1:30. This was one of the most relaxing matches I have shot in years.

And I will disagree, the key is to get there early and get signed in on all the books for each stage. This gives you priority when you come back later to shoot. Also, Sunday is usually lighter so you can finish faster too. And finally, this was their 1st year so there were a few teething pains. Many of the ROs were new and figuring out the systems too. They will be more experienced next year and I am sure it will be a much better match. I plan to be back there agsin. Hope to see you there.

Anyone know if this is going to take up any of the other ranges like the 25yd, 50yd, or 100yd? Or is this in that range where they do the action shooting?

I was planning to go to Yolo to check the sights on some guns, but I don't want to go if any of the ranges will be closed, or it will be super crowded and hard to find parking.

Might have to go to Sac Valley instead.

Note that those who have repeatedly expressed enough vile and incoherent content as to render your views irrelevant, have been placed on my ignore list. Thank you for helping me improve my experience and direct my attention towards those who are worthy of it. God bless your toxic little souls.

Lat year they had 352 entries for the weekend so figure 100-130ish actual shooters over the weekend.
