        Exactly.

Just as the bottle says - A little goes a long way.

My test loads were still within published data and a kaboom is one major reason to be very, very careful with it. Absolutely do not get creative and tread with caution.

This isn't rocket science. The published loads have a range. Make a few rounds at the bottom of the range just to get used to the process. Shoot them. Make a box of ammo using a range like in post #4. Maybe do every .2 grains or something. Don't feel any urge to get near the max - there's rarely any reason to and it give you a lot less margin for error since these powder measures always have a little variability to them. See what your gun likes.

I was using 3.9 for a 124gr jacketed load - the IIRC the data that I had found when I was working that load was 3.6 min - 4.0 max which makes it really ease to work up the load. I just didn't like the reputation that TG had about being very unforgiving so I switched back to power pistol.

But, no matter, temperature and humidity probably plays a role too. I also added a powder baffle. I don't know if it helps, but I use it anyway.

Once its set, I check round 25, round 50 and then every 50. If I find a variance, I retune, but its usually right on.

I wanted to give an update that I have switched to the Lee auto disk pro measure and talk about a major consistency improvement. It will drop 4.2gr of TG all day long with essentially no variation on the #37 hole.

Interesting. Quite a bit cheaper than a second LNL powder drop too. I kind of want a second measure. Certainly don't need one though.

I should clarify that I'm using it on a Lee press with their powder through expanding die. It drops the powder as it expands the case mouth. I was a little apprehensive since I really like my Redding and it's built like a tank. However, the Lee is a great design and it works like a champ.

I looked at Lees manuals but did not find the answer to a question. Can you adjust the amount of expansion? I tend to go barely enough to get the pill in the case using a separate expander. I have no clue whether the Hornady PTX is adjustable either.

It looks like you need the measure, the extension and the caliber specific PTX die at about $70 total to start with one caliber.

Yes you can control expansion. It is done by turning the die clockwise to increase, the the opposite to decrease. Works well and stays put.
