I borrowed the mould from big bronco.

It's an old Hensley and Gibbs 4 cavity mould. 158 gr

If anyone has been on the fence on powder coating your cast bullets but didn't want to deal with making a jig, buying the SE gun and oven and didn't like the way dry tumble looked then maybe try this.
I wanted to try PCing because I recently installed a 28.00 bullet feeder on my press that didn't work well so.
I spent 6.00 on 2lbs of Harbor Freight red. And 6.00 on chinamart plastic airsoft BB's. I didn't want to spend the $ on a oven unless things worked out.
I thought if I use a steel plate over my BBQ grill it would help regulate the heat.

I'll be damed it worked. 12.00 powder coated bullets with good smooth coverage.

The bullets even match my press and now my bullet feeder works great.

Those are some pretty good looking BBQ bullets. I'm surprised they came out so well

I heard Deleon and company were on the prowl looking for more things we like to do so they can ban those activities too and then grow to be epic dicks (cause apparently, they are not epic DICKS already)... Thems pills, as perty as they are are BLACK, and we all know that BLACK is the sign of evil, unless it is ELECTED, then it is the messiah... Photoshop those pics to make them pills look like bright orange or pink, cause then they would be harmless.

I ran out of space to do things in my garage. I need to put thigns away so I have room to work but that lead ingot making made a mess. I got lead splattered on the glass of the toaster oven.

Need to chuck some things and get my mold sent back to Lee... :\

I put a down on a 44 mag rossi ranch hand so now I am gonna have me another .44 mag to shoot my PC out of. Looking forward to this...

              : D

Hey it just dawned on me. My pills no matter what I do just do not seem to be as cool as others. Is it because of the names I give them?

From left to right they are: Seafoam Splash, Ocean White Water, Key Lime Vanilla Bean, Pink Splash Cream, Blood Splatter, Ocean White Water, Smurf Killer, Toasted Nutmeg, Seafoam Splash, Pretty Lime and Peach Surprise, Got Milk, Barely Blue Vanilla Surprise, Zombie Green, Pink Splash Cream, Blood Splatter, and another Seafoam Splash.

I just find it so damn hard to make SOLID colors. I think I need more colors because unlike the tv show, 8 is CLEARLY not enough...

                Well Easter is coming up.
Don't let any kids near those, they may get a tummy ache eating to many.

If any one comes up with a faster way to get the pills from container to cooking tray, I think we would all like to hear.

I have tried pouring them out onto a screen large enough the BB's to fall through onto a paper plate.
This makes them a little easer to get at. Just don't dump them all at once.

Havent began coating yet, let alone casting. I'm only going to be doing 30 cal for a blackout and m1a.

I see mainly 45. Are rifle harder to PC? Standing up and baking is the only option?

Not sure if this is relevant, but I have been powder coating fishing jig heads for .... Well kinda like ever.. Lol, and I have always heated them up first to accept the powder coat. Maybe a little warm up out side in the smooth cali sun or a quick pre-heat in the toaster over will help with the coverage issues.
I have never heard of using air soft bbs but then again I normally dip one lure in at a time and hang in the toaster oven the repeat like 600 times. Lol
Oh and bass pro have some sick colors but they are gobs more expensive than the HF ones. I have used the HF stuff and white and red work well, the mate black is almost always hit and miss.
Anyways, hope that helps a bit, just a quick warm up and maybe that stuff will stick better.

That is not a bad Idea but the liquid like properties of the powder and how easy it is to dust it says that that method could be messy. BUT I imagine that you have enough powder on them already? Pour them onto a surface and just pick em out.

I purchased locking hemostats one 10" and one 4" I think and I have been using them to pick out the boolits and place them on the foil.

If I could just dump them onto the foila nd tilt and roll away the balls, that would be cool, but then I would have a lot of powder being dumped too and I am not thrilled with how the boolits roll around. Maybe rifle is easier to do.

biker: YEah you can do .30 cal and .224 and all that but we just happen to do more pistol boolits. I shoot my .45 in an indoor range and I do not yet load for my ARF so for me it is only pistol boolits now.

Also, why do you have to recoat so many times? I have seen the PC fluid beds for fishing jigs, they are CRAZY cool and you can make your own, they do an excellent job of coverage I thought.

I use a motorized ice cream maker I use for a tumbler that my locking container fit perfectly into. So I tumbled in that for 15 minutes while the others where baking, but you can just shake and bake.
The Cast boolits thread said to use the black BBs but I just used the cheapest because Wally's was out of the black ones.
I pre-heat mine to 200*s and only need to shake them in the container 15-20 SECONDS

Wow that is the total spa treatment. They get a mani petti right there and all the water they can drink... That tray is nice. It would be nice to have a permanent non stick PC tray instead of using nonstick foil every so often...
