Good loading manual and good bullet puller

    Hi Guys,
Looked around and everything is old threads on old manuals. Gonna finally start reloading for my first time for my desert eagle 44mag. I bought 300rds of 44mag comm reloads in new brass for super cheap but the charge is too weak and it won't cycle. I have the press , dies , and am in need of a good manual and a good bullet puller. I've seen a few but some look kinda rinky dink. What's my best bet? Thanks in advance.

Any of the manuals published by Lee, Lyman, Hornady, Sierra, Speer will serve you well.

As for a bullet puller for your situation, I would recommend the inertia puller from RCBS. It will not deform the bullet like a collet puller will and it has a lifetime guarantee. They just replaced mine.

I have been reloading for over 20 years now, and really like Hornady and Sierra manuals.
I have many other manuals, but these two seem to have a broader range of powder charges.
As for bullet pullers, I have a Lyman kinetic hammer.
There are several brands of kinetic pullers, but they all look very similar and come in different colors according to the manufactures.
Good luck and welcome to reloading.

Agree unless the crimps are heavy. Take a look on the web for loads on the powder mfg sites. Don't reuse your old powder unless you are SURE what it is. When I had my Ruger 44 auto rifle I had to use near max pistol loads to get it to function. You might get some better info here http://thedeserteagle.yuku.com/

For manuals, the Hornady and Sierra are my go to books. But I also have a Lee, Lyman and Speer. As far as a bullett puller, I pulled about 500 or so pistol rounds with a RCBS kinetic puller until it broke. I'm surprised it did that much. So a kinetic puller would be good for occasional pulling but if you need to do a bunch, I would recommend a collet type.

Thanks for the Input gentleman. Once I have everything set and loaded I'll be back to this thread for the follow up. Greatly appreciated.

Then I will save you the trouble.

IF you get the Book of Lee, that is the ONLY book you need for load data, but SHAME on me for saying that. You should ALWAYS have several books, but Lee is the best when it comes to a ton of data for every caliber under the sun you never heard of and even those that you DID hear of.

For 44 mag you only need to know THREE powders.

                    2400, Accurate #9 and H-110/Win296

H110 is the best and when you pull the trigger if you are still holding onto the bird then you need to be quick to pick yourself up off the floor and get back into a modified weaver stance to impress the ladies and cock-block all the guys at the range...

Some will disagree, but they don't own a deagle and they just do not understand... Haters gonna hate...

I say go kinetic puller because I am cheap, but there is an even BETTER puller than those cam locks. 0o0o0o this one looks like an EXCELLENT upgrade... http://www.quineticscorp.com/newtwist.asp

There exists a cool multi caliber singlestage bullet pulleriece of metal and it works like a jar opener... For about $40 but I forgot what online store sells it.

                    This looks good too: http://forums.gunsandammo.com/showth...w-girl-in-town

As for powders and load data, Don't let Lee play mind games with you. Yeah they might list 26 different powders for .44 mag, but that does NOT mean they are all great to use. Stick with the top 3-5 suggested powders and you will have a fine shooting and cycling bird every time...

Need GOOD SS pins to clean your brass? Try the new and improved model...

Rcbs bullet puller die, not the hammer. It is the best and keeps the powder in the case.
