    Loading on the lighter side?

The loads I've done using Accurate #2, using RN plated 115 grains X-Treme, has been in the 4.3 - 4.4 grains range.
With 4.4, my COAL is 1.115-1.120" while the 4.3 grains COAL I did recently was 1.100 -1.105" The max load per the online site is 4.6 grains.

Both loads went bang with no issues. However, comparing it with factory loads or even with LAX reloads, I noticed that the loads I've done, has less recoil and even lesser muzzle flash.

With that being said, I was wondering. If the factory load FMJs which would have the same load of standard HP/SD rounds, should I increase my charge, to get the same recoil?
Or can I just go with what I've tested, considering that these are just plinking rounds?

you are loading 9mm i presume?
nothing wrong with loading light, (as long as you are still within written specifications) but be careful of "loading until you get more recoil". Really, you would need to chrono the factory stuff and then try to match it with the supplies you have without maxing out.
Less recoil and flash can be a good thing, for many reasons

The reason you have less recoil with AA#2 is because it is a fast-burning powder and you're using a lot less than factory, not to mention the reduced velocity. If you want to duplicate factory ammo, use a medium-burning powder such as HS6 or Power Pistol or Silhouette and run more velocity.

In IDPA and Steel Challenge I prefer loading for softer recoil. Get to the next target quicker.

3RDGEAR..., yes its 9mm. The max on AA's website is 4.6 grains. I agree, I need to chrono my loads. I just didn't have the chance to do it at an open range.

J-CAT, so are you saying that even if I go at or above recommended load, I may not stillbe able to duplicate factory ammos?

Uhlan1, Yes I agree, the softer recoil actually improved my shot placements. When using factory loads, my POI was around 3-4" from POA, with my softer loads, I was at 1-2" (I know, I need to work on my trigger finger).
I was just thinking if my SD rounds has more recoil, shouldn't I be practicing with loads that duplicates the ones I have for home defense?

            Yes that's what I'm saying.
