    338 Lapua Magnum Bushing Help

I am reloading Lapua brass in Redding Match Type S full body die. Does anyone know what the correct bushing size is for this brass? I don't have ball calipers to do what the dies suggest. I figured with the huge brain trust we have out there on Calguns, someone would know the answer. Thanks for your help on this.

Your S bushing size will depend on your brass. Different makes of brass will need different sized bushings.

The easiest method I use is take a loaded (or make a dummy round) round of the brass you are using to reload and measure the outside diameter of the loaded case neck. You then subtract .001"-.002". That will be your bushing size. I use the -.001" for my bolt guns and that has worked out fine for me. Most may recommend you go with the -.002" measurement.

I use a precision mic to get the measurements, but a good, precise caliper will work.

As an example: I use bushings sized at .329",.331",.333",.335" and .337" for different types of .308 Winchester brass.

Maybe someone can chime in on .338 Lapua brass for you. Most of what I've read for Lapua .338 brass, guys are using bushing sizes in .364",.365" and .367".
    I recommend the TiN bushings.

I use .365 bushing in my redding die for Lapua brass.
