    .44 mag lever load

With limited component availability, here are my choices:
    boolits: 240 grain cast
    primers: Winchester LPP
powder: bullseye, trail boss, 296 or wsf

Or do I just have to wait until this craziness goes away and I can buy a correct powdera

The trailboss and Bullseye will work great for sub 1000fps loads.

The W296 will produce a real world 44RM load, but I have had problems with it using non-GC bullets, more leading than I like. Of the four, WSF probably has the best chance of producing a good mid range non-gas checked lead load, but I have never loaded it.

Here is what I have for the other three:

    TB - 7.3grs
    BE - 6.0gr
W296 - Start at 23.0gr, Max 25.0gr - 25 is a compressed load, pretty hot for unchecked bullets, watch for leading.

    Good luck have fun.

I have used 296/H110 in handgun and rifle for jacketed
I believe it was 24 gr.but look it up and work up

Hornady book has 6.6 to 9.6 max grains trail boss for 1000 fps
      I use Unique for cast

In the lyman book they list Bullseye for the 232 and 245 grain cast in the 44 magnum pistol. They are not ideal but if you have them.

My Lyman 47 does not list any of this

don't I want to load it slightly different for rifle than for pistol?

            Same for pistol and rifle.

For BE check Alliant's web site, for Trail Boss and W296, check Hodgdon.

This is one of the calibers I reload.

W296 without a GC will lead a lot. I usually leave that for the JHP. W231 is much better for cast in 44mag

These are the only two powders I load with for my 44 mags, both rifle and handguns.

This is from Modern Reloading 2nd
