    Powder Prices

I like to support the local stores whenever I can. But when did powder start going for $30-$35 a pound. Went to Turners and Annies in Corona and was expecting around $25 a pound. Not to be found. Last time I bought powder (last summer) it ran $18-22 a pound- of course that was in Utah.

Looks like I'll order a bunch from Powder Valley or Wideners and be done with it.

I just bought a pound of Blue Dot for about 25 bucks at Ammo Bros in Ontario about two weeks ago.

I pay $23-27 locally. Sportsman's Warehouse is the cheapest around, but almost 45 minutes away.
That said, I load .38 Special so 1 lb of Bullseye goes a long way.

Discount Shooters Supply in Roseville is still charging around $22/lb, at least for the last two single I bought (IMR 4064 and AA-2200).

Sounds like your local shops have decided to raise prices, "just because they can".

Several of us went together and bought our "stash" on line...just not going to deal with the local scalpers this time around. We bought primers, Trail Boss, W231, Unique, 2400, and a couple of others I don't recall...paid the shipping and Hazmat and when the smoke cleared it was all about 15% under the "quoted" local prices (tax included)...and no B/S stories about how the distributors are not filling orders and its all about "supply and demand"...Natchez, Weidners, Midway, Cabelas, etc don't seem to have any issues with their distributors...My feeling for whatever it's worth is we are headed for another "shortage" and I'm not playing the game...would prefer to support local guys but they got to support the local shooters and reloaders in return and they don't...we are "full up" with powder, primers, brass and projectiles so good luck to the scalpers...we don't dance this time.
God and the Constitution give me my rights and actions...any other input is just blabbering.

Last local gun store rifle powder I bought cost $40 a pound, the batch before that $38.

So, I ordered five pounds of assorted powder from Powder Valley for $97.25, add $27.50 for Haz-Mat and $0.50 for insurance, and that comes to $125.25, add $13.95 shipping (includes 500 bullets) and the total is $139.20.

Assuming $38 per pound at local store, the powder would cost a minimum of $190 + $15.67 sales tax, for a total of $205.67. Plus my time and diesel fuel to purchase it.

So I saved $66.47 buying at Powder Valley.

I could save more buying larger quantities, but it is necessary to keep my stock under California's limit of 20 pounds at any one time. Which means it has to be loaded into ammunition or disposed of before buying more.

                            Ammo bros and Phillips wholesale.

For powder, they're damn good on prices. The only way to do better is with coupons and big buys online.

Are there specific requirements for the cabinet? Single layer of drywall? Double layer?
