I'm trying to get my 11-yrd boy to shoot my Israeli-Mauser, so I cooked up some squib-load which turn out fine at 50yrd (5 shot, 3-in grouping): 10 gr of Unique or 8 gr of titegroup behind Berry's 150 gr 30-cal plated bullet(very cheap bullet, 6c/rd). Very little recoil. I think this will work in 30-06, too. I'll try that next.
Word of caution, be careful of double-charge. I weight-measure the powder, load, and seat each cartridge in one sequence.
