    Bullet Comparisons

I did a recent test comparing various loads and bullets in two different guns (Sig P220 C and Les Baer 1911). I wanted to share this data and any feedback would be appreciated. I carry the Sig P220 and wanted to find a good self defense load. Looks like the Sig 200gr JHP #9820 is my best choice. I may play around with different powder loads to tweak it a bit.

I have noticed that drilling out the flash hole to 0.100" makes a difference in accuracy and repeatability. Most commercial loads have a flash hole of 0.060" or less.

There is a lot of data in the photo but most of it should be self explanatory. It should be pretty obvious that some of the commercial self defense loads are not suitable for short barrels.

The Recoil # is a personal judgment. The tests were conducted in the order shown (top to bottom) with a repeat of the Stnd and Sig 200gr at the end.

    Peter
