Range Brass Picking

HEY... L.E. GUYS....
How many of you have .38 caliber pencils ???

( it used to be common practice to "qualify" by poking holes in your target with a pencil instead of actualy shooting, and then having to clean the weapon afterwards !!! )

But not anymore...RIGHT GUYS ???

Mark the end of your brass with a sharpie. That way, you can demonstrate that you are picking up only your own brass.

Good idea, for firing at the range. Of course, in an Oakland shootout, you probably don't want something so easily traced back...

Most indoor ranges today have contracts with metal recyclers, so they won't allow you to pick up brass unless you can show that it is your own. That is also why MANY won't let you shoot CCI Blazer or Wolf...the recycler requires them to separate that stuff out themselves.

Maybe around you, but that may be a regional thing.

Range brass is considered to be lead contaminated. The range may need receipts proving the brass was disposed of properly to show the environmental authorities.

You guys ever have more fun picking up brass than shooting? Going after L.E guys is the best. I can see why picking up cans is becoming a hot job in my area.

They do? That's the range I usually go to. We'll see about that, I've just decided to start picking up my brass

Most of it, anyway. They can have .22lr.

I thought, the reason was that those aren't reloadable, and they reload.

People sweep up their brass and dump in a 5 gallon bucket at the range I got to. I had a friend dump that bucket into his range bag. He ended up picking a lot of dirt and trash out of his bag.

Rarely do I ever take less than I brung !!!

I know its wrong...but the shiny brass calls to me...!!!

By the way...not only do I bring home more brass than I "brung", but I always end up with brass I don't re-load.
I either need to sell some brass, or buy some handguns !!!

come to slosa range in san luis obispo. you dont need to mark your brass with a sharpie. whats yours is yours.

I pick up my own brass and never have a problem, if a guy next to me is shooting same ammo and does not pick aup after himself, then I ask him if I can have it, most of the time it is no problem. I hate it when the rance picks up brass for recycling and not for re-loading, seems like a waste.

My theory is that it is my as long as I pick up, and if i leave it after shooting they can do whatever with it.
