So, before today I have never heard of Zoe Quinn or her game Depression Quest and until about 40 minutes ago I couldn't find very much information on whats been doing on. I logged onto Reddit when I got up and saw in the /r/gaming section a link to Total Biscuit's post about this (http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1s4nmr1/?), this is a very level headed and objective writing on this new story. However it didn't give a lot of info as to what allegedly happened, it mainly focused on the impact it has on the gaming news industry as a whole and if you are a fan of TB you know he doesn't like the large media outlets.
So after some looking around I stumbled upon this video (warning NSFW language) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5-5...ature=youtu.be in the /r/Cynicalbrit subreddit. It outlines fairly well what has allegedly transpired and the impact on the industry. He gets a bit heated and seems to be upset by this coming to light and rightfully so, however the video as a whole covers things very well.
So it seems this woman, who I have read is a Feminist and a white knight of social justice, has played the victim in the past for personal gain. Now her and her boyfriend have a break up because she has been cheating on him with multiple men. The problem is who she was sleeping with and what happened after. One of the men was a writer for Giant Bomb and now Kotaku who has written articles about her game. It is even more complex than that though, it seems she has ties with most gaming media outlets and has been able to suppress bad press about her game and her actions that have directly hurt others. If you look at the /r/gaming subreddit you will see the link I posted, if you look at the comments you will see the vast majority of the 24k have been deleted. The moderators are suppressing stories and comments about this emerging scandal in the gaming world. Several screenshots are surfacing of reddit moderators all but admitting their bias and banning users.
This story goes much deeper and I don't even want to try and pretend I fully grasp it or have all the information however this is just a fraction of the information I've read and seen. I highly encourage you to watch the video if you are a gamer and care about the industry, I know this is a gun forum and have very few hard core gamers on here but I feel like this story needs far more attention than its getting.
