I had a western digital sata 320 gig hard drive (I think it is the raptor series) fail on me. Unfortunately I didn't get it backed up soon enough when I started to notice problems and I hadn't backed up my data in a few years.
I read that there are a couple recovery companies in Irvine and one or more in the LA area. I was wondering if anyone has used them. I get an IO error from windows. I tried booting to linux and can't read it either. I am used to having windows go bad. In that case I just grab my data and move it over to the second partition or removable media and then reload windows. Looks like it is the drive this time.
What is a good recovery company? What is the average cost? What is the best way to backup in the future?
Thanks guys.
