Has anybody here gone through the process of upgrading a site from Drupal 6.x to 7? How painful was it?
I'm reading through some documentation on the process (I found a guide that looks understandable at http://alexrayu.com/blog/upgrade-dru...7#.Uvq2-tKUO9I), and so far it seems that the more painful parts are going to be migrating/recreating the theme, and figuring out what to do about custom modules or 3rd party modules which are no longer supported in 7.
I've got a sandbox I can copy everything over to, so I might just try out the upgrade in there and see how much ends up broken.
(Background: I'm on the board for the local chapter of an engineering organization, and we had a local company design a website for us, but are just hourly for support/maintenance. Depending on how high their quote is, I may have a go at doing it myself or just update to the latest minor version for security patches and not upgrade yet.)
