    iPod Sound Jack Problems

I have an iPod Video(30 gig) that is about 6 years old. Anytime I connect head phones to it, only one side plays and if I them connected too long, it ruins the headphones and they will no longer work. What to do to fix the problem? I got way too much music and videos on it and I really don't wanna buy a new one.
    Any advice?

may be a light cleaning. My iphone need to be cleaned one time. Q-tip cut down with a light cote of contact clearer.

If you have it synced to iTunes won't a replacement pick up all your stuff?

I plugged the wrong ear phones into my first iPod and messed it up. The apple store checked it, confirmed it was broken and handed me a new one. (yes I told them what I did and that it was my fault) can't remember how old it was when I did it though.

You could buy a new headphone jack for your ipod through ebay for about three dollars. I have the same ipod and through the years I have replaced the head phone jack twice. Youtube has tutorials on removing and installing the headphone jack to assist you if you are willing to do the repair yourself. *

Other option is you cas get a converter from the 30 in connector to 3.5mm. I think theyre pretty cheap on Amazon...
