All the Dells have the lojack installed in the Bios - but it may not have been activated. If it has, it will transmit your IP to the security company. If it was reported stolen, then the owner gets notified. Not good, as the user can access the machine remotely, let alone cooperate with police. Go with the other suggestions and file a police report.
If it has any non-public information, you don't want to be accused.

yeah, 7 does not have a functioning Admin account by default. the local admin is the first account you are forced to create.

and the "hiddent admin" was never hidden. its right there in the users list.

    This hasn't worked since XP.

Since when has Dell offered Windows 7 Ultimate N as an OS option? I'm pretty sure the N editions (no Media Player) are only an option in Europe.

I used to run Windows 7 Ultimate, All versions.

But, of course, they were all cracked versions. I now run legal copies of Win 7 Pro.

boot into safe mode, log in using the hidden admin account, reset password for the username you are trying to get into. Windows has really rubbish security.
You guys are going a little too far with the whole government conspiracy thing. Every college student these days locks their laptops.
Chances of returning laptop to its owner through law enforcement or Dell are pretty low. So best bet would be to unlock it.

Call the local law enforcement agency and turn it in as found property. Get a report number.
