Woke up yesterday and grabbed my Samsung Galaxy A71 (unlocked non-5G model) which I bought back in April 2020. See I have a text message from my provider Cricket Wireless, who has been good for me for about three years.
My current phone is no longer compatible with their network. Of course they suggest I purchase a phone from them.
Strange to me. I Google and find a handful of Cricket Wireless users complaining that their newer expensive phone no longer work with Cricket Wireless. Few users wrote that they just jump to another wireless carrier without issue.
I needed a working phone ASAP. So I went to a local AT&T store to see if my phone is compatible with AT&T's network. I know that Cricket runs off of AT&T's networks. So, if AT&T told me, "Sorry Sir your phones doesn't work with us." then I could understand.
But after the three times of the sales lady trying to upsell me, I get activated on their network without any problem. Currently, I signed up for AT&T 4GB(SM) plan for $50 with Autopay.
Fortunately, my data needs are not demanding since I don't watch much videos or stream audio on my phone. I see AT&T's Prepaid plans that look like potential good deals.
Anyone here have any experiences with AT&T Prepaid vs month to month service? Do they deprioritize Prepaid users? Some have mention this but offer no proof. Some mention network coverage with Prepaid is less in some areas. Looking on their coverage map, So Cal looks fully covered except the local mountains as expected.
Appreciate some advice, thanks.
